ACB Conducts Two-Day Surprise Raids on Illegal Mining in Udhampur, Reasi
Jammu, KNT: The Anti Corruption Bureau has carried out a two-day joint surprise operation targeting alleged illegal mining activities in Udhampur and Reasi districts.
Officials said the action was initiated following complaints of large-scale illegal mineral extraction in parts of the Jammu division. Preliminary inputs indicated a suspected nexus between certain mineral bidders and officials of concerned departments, prompting the Bureau to launch coordinated inspections.
Specialised ACB teams led by gazetted officers conducted simultaneous checks at multiple stone crusher units across the two districts. During the operation, officials seized electronic gadgets, official records and documents for examination.
According to sources, several transit documents, including allegedly forged Form-A papers, were recovered from operational sites. Authorities said the inspected units were found operating in violation of prescribed norms and conditions.
The Bureau stated that further investigation is underway based on material collected during the raids. Officials reiterated their commitment to curb illegal extraction of minerals and enforce accountability in the sector. [KNT]
