18 Months After Assembly Polls, Transporters Yet to Be Paid: Waheed Parra

Srinagar, KNT: Peoples Democratic Party legislator Waheed ur Rehman Parra on Thursday alleged that hundreds of vehicles hired for election security duties during the 2024 Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir remain unpaid even after 18 months.

In a post on social media, Parra said the vehicles were hired by the Transport Department and deployed through the Regional Transport Office Kashmir for election-related security arrangements. He stated that the vehicles were provided to the Jammu and Kashmir Police and services were duly rendered by transporters, but payments have not yet been released.

He urged the Jammu and Kashmir Transport Department, the concerned Secretary, and the Jammu and Kashmir Police to intervene and resolve the pending dues at the earliest.

Parra also tagged senior UT authorities, seeking immediate redressal of what he termed long-pending payments affecting transporters who had provided services during the election process.[KNT]
