VP Radhakrishnan continues his two-day visit to Sri Lanka as he arrives in Nuwara Eliya

Vice President CP Radhakrishnan continued his two-day visit to Sri Lanka as he arrived in Nuwara Eliya this morning, where he received a grand traditional welcome from the local community. During his visit, the Vice President toured houses built under the Indian Housing Project, a flagship initiative aimed at improving living conditions for the Indian-origin Tamil community in Sri Lanka. He also interacted with members of the community, listening to their experiences and concerns firsthand.

Yesterday, Vice President Radhakrishnan held wide-ranging talks with Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake and Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya, reaffirming shared priorities in bilateral cooperation. He also addressed a community reception, announcing a significant expansion of the OCI scheme and enhanced educational scholarships and marking the completion of Phase III of the flagship Indian Housing Project with the handover of the final tranche of homes.

The visit highlights India’s continued commitment to the welfare of Indian-origin Tamils and underscores the deepening people-to-people ties between India and Sri Lanka. The visit is being seen as a significant step in strengthening bilateral relations while delivering tangible benefits at the grassroots level.
