Rainfall Brings Relief from Heat Across Jammu Region, Vaishno Devi Base Camp Faces Inundation
Jammu, KNT: Fresh rainfall across parts of Jammu region on Saturday brought relief from the prevailing heatwave in Samba, Kathua and Reasi districts, while heavy showers triggered inundation at the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi base camp, disrupting normal movement in the area.
The rainfall comes amid prolonged sweltering conditions in Jammu districts, where rising temperatures and heatwave conditions had caused discomfort and concern, with weather conditions expected to intensify again from June 1.
Heavy rainfall led to significant waterlogging at the base camp of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi, where large portions of the area were reported inundated following the showers.
At the same time, fresh rain in Samba and adjoining districts brought down temperatures and created comparatively pleasant weather conditions after days of intense heat.
The showers were welcomed by farmers, particularly in border areas, who said the rainfall had improved soil moisture and strengthened prospects for sowing seasonal crops and preparing paddy nurseries.
Locals said the rainfall had generated optimism among the farming community, which had been awaiting favorable weather conditions for agricultural activities.
Kathua and Reasi districts also witnessed rainfall, providing respite to inhabitants grappling with high temperatures during the recent heat spell.
The change in weather brought temporary relief across the region even as concerns remain over the expected rise in temperatures from the beginning of June. [KNT]
