RSS Chief Bhagwat in Jammu, holds ‘manthan’ with cadre, to address seminar on October 2
Almost after five years and first after the abrogation of Article 370 and 35 A, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Chief Dr. Mohan Bhagwat on Thursday embarks four days visit of Jammu.
Sources privy to RSS told The News Now, the Dr. Mohan Bhagwat accompanied by senior functionaries arrived here in Jammu at 2:00 pm and directly move to Keshav Bahawan- the headquarter of Sangh.
They informed that the four-day visit of ‘Sarsanghchalak’ will be very crucial as he will be holding deliberations, meetings (including virtual) with various sections of the society to get first-hand information on prevailing situation in the Union Territory particularly after the Art 370 revocation.
“During his trip, Bhagwat may also deliberate with functionaries about the plan ahead for elections in Jammu and Kashmir whenever the Election Commission decides to hold them,” sources expressed.
“Mohan Bhagwat will be participating in a number of events as a part of the RSS tradition,” they said.
“Besides holding meetings on October 1 at Keshav Bhawan with various sections as well as the top brass of the J&K based RSS reviewing and devising future strategy for expansion of RSS base, Bhagwat on October 2, will be addressing a seminar at the General Zorawar Singh Auditorium in Jammu University,” sources said.
He will also review the progress made by RSS functionaries on various projects undertaken in J&K including education, public awareness, health, rural development, ecology, water conservation, social equality, among others, adding, “the role of RSS in the COVID pandemic will also be discussed threadbare with the cadre.”
However, on October 3, the ‘Sarsanghchalak’ will address RSS functionaries and volunteers through video conferencing and hold meetings with ‘pracharaks’ in the Union Territory of J&K.
Pertinent to mention that the abrogation of Article 370 had been a long-cherished dream of the RSS, which was fulfilled by the government when it revoked the ‘special status’ of Jammu and Kashmir and bifurcated the state into two union territories – J&K and Ladakh.
The move was heartily welcomed by the RSS stating that the integration of the (erstwhile) state was now complete.
According to sources, the October 2 seminar to be addressed by the RSS Chief is to be attended by more than 400 people from across the Union Territory including a bunch of leaders from the BJP.
The RSS earlier expressed concern over surging positive cases and deaths due to COVID-19 in Jammu division, along with social and religious bodies also discussing the situation that arose due to the outbreak of the CoronaVirus.
In May this year, the Jammu and Kashmir unit of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) helped the needy and arranged 106 oxygen concentrators for its supply on priority in parts of Jammu and Kashmir.
“The RSS volunteers are taking care of all people suffering from the pandemic,” a senior RSS leader had said, adding that apart from the treatment, food was also arranged for people in home isolation and various helping activities were also undertaken in different areas through Seva Bharati.
Earlier in 2017, RSS chief visited Jammu and reviewed the political developments in the erstwhile state of alliance with PDP that remained the core issue.
In 2017, the RSS Chief along with the organisation’s central working committee visited Jammu for a seven day visit and discussed the situation especially in the aftermath of a militant attack on Amarnath pilgrims in Anantnag.
