Jammu-Srinagar Highway Partially Restored, LMVs Allowed Towards Srinagar
Jammu, KNT: The Jammu-Srinagar National Highway has been partially restored for traffic, with authorities permitting the movement of Light Motor Vehicles (LMVs) towards Srinagar following an improvement in road conditions.
Traffic officials said LMVs have been allowed to proceed from Jakhani in Udhampur towards Srinagar after restoration work on the highway made the route partially motorable.
Authorities, however, said traffic movement remains regulated and commuters have been advised to follow the directions of traffic personnel and adhere to official advisories while undertaking the journey.
The highway, the only all-weather road connecting Kashmir with the rest of the country, had witnessed disruptions due to adverse weather and landslides at several vulnerable stretches.
Restoration work is continuing at affected locations, and officials said the movement of other categories of vehicles would be decided based on road conditions and weather. [KNT]
