J&K Government Constitutes Selection Committee For Mental Health Authority Appointments
The Jammu and Kashmir Government has constituted a Selection Committee to recommend appointments to the Jammu and Kashmir Mental Health Authority in accordance with the provisions of the Jammu and Kashmir Mental Healthcare (Mental Health Authority) Rules, 2023. The committee has been constituted under Rule 5 of the Mental Healthcare Rules, 2023, to oversee the selection process for members of the Mental Health Authority.
According to the government order, the Commissioner/Secretary, Health and Medical Education Department, will serve as the Chairperson of the committee. The other members include the Mission Director of the Jammu and Kashmir National Health Mission, the Head of the Department of Psychiatry at Government Medical College, Srinagar, and the Head of the Department of Psychiatry at Government Medical College, Jammu.
The committee has been entrusted with scrutinising all nominations and applications received for appointment to the Jammu and Kashmir Mental Health Authority. After evaluating the applications, it will recommend suitable candidates to the government for appointment to the statutory body.
The order states that the Jammu and Kashmir National Health Mission will provide secretarial and logistical support to the Selection Committee to facilitate the effective discharge of its functions.
