Jhelum River Water Level Remains Above Normal In Kashmir Valley

In the Kashmir Valley, water levels in the Jhelum River remained above normal at several places today due to persistent rainfall over the past few days. The Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, has advised people living near river embankments to remain vigilant, avoid panic and follow official advisories.

The Irrigation and Flood Control Department has also directed its employees to remain stationed at their respective places of duty and continue monitoring the situation. People have been advised not to venture near the embankments of rivers, streams and other water bodies.

Meanwhile, the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra remained suspended for the sixth consecutive day due to adverse weather conditions. The Jammu-Srinagar National Highway also remained closed following landslides and shooting stones at multiple locations.

The Northern Railway has operated a special train from Budgam to Katra for stranded Shri Amarnath Yatris, tourists and other passengers as repair work on the highway continues.
