Two Dead Bodies Recovered in Twin Areas of Srinagar
Srinagar, KNT: Police on Thursday launched separate investigations after two bodies were recovered under different circumstances in Srinagar.
In the first incident, a 40-year-old man was found dead inside his residence in the Rawathpora Baghat area of the city.
Officials said the deceased was found with injuries reportedly caused by a sharp-edged object. Soon after receiving information, police reached the spot, took the body into custody and shifted it for medico-legal formalities.
The deceased was identified as Ajaz Ahmad Wani (40), son of Ghulam Mohammad Wani, a resident of Rawathpora Baghat. Police have initiated proceedings to ascertain the circumstances surrounding his death.
In another incident, an unidentified body was recovered from a water canal in the Baba Demb area of Srinagar.
According to eyewitnesses, the body was found floating in the canal wrapped inside a bathtub, following which locals alerted the police.
A police team reached the spot, secured the area and initiated legal formalities. The body was shifted for medico-legal examination, while the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) was called to examine the scene.
Police have launched an investigation to establish the identity of the deceased and determine the circumstances that led to the death. [KNT]
