Three Stranded Persons, Over Two Dozen Cattle Rescued From Betar Nallah in Poonch
Poonch, KNT: Three persons and more than two dozen cattle stranded in the overflowing Betar Nallah near Dalhan village in Poonch district were rescued safely on Tuesday during a joint operation by the Police, State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and National Disaster Response Force (NDRF).
Officials said the rescue teams launched the operation after receiving information that the victims and their livestock had become trapped due to the sudden rise in the water level following heavy rainfall.
Despite challenging conditions and the strong current, the rescue personnel successfully evacuated all three individuals and the stranded cattle to safety without any injuries.
The operation was carried out jointly by Police, SDRF and NDRF personnel, who remained at the site until the rescue was completed.
Meanwhile, the authorities have appealed to the public to stay away from rivers, nallahs and other flood-prone areas as heavy rainfall continues across several parts of Jammu and Kashmir, increasing the risk of flash floods and sudden rise in water levels. [KNT]
