Thousands Of Devotees Perform Pithru Tharpanam Across Keralam On Karkkidaka Vavu

Karkkidaka Vavu Bali, the traditional ritual of paying homage to departed ancestors, is being performed today at various temples across Keralam.

Karkkidaka Vavu Bali has begun in the early hours across Keralam. The rituals began between 3:30 a.m. and 5 a.m. at most temples.

The new moon day in the Malayalam month of Karkkidakam is considered the most sacred day in Hindu tradition for performing rites for departed souls.

Various Devaswom boards and temples have made extensive preparations for devotees. Additional security arrangements have been made along riverbanks and coastal areas in view of the rains.
