PM Modi Says India-France Ties Reach New Heights
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that over the past several years, the relationship between India and France has reached new heights. He said, together with President Macron, both countries are building a Special Global Strategic Partnership.
Speaking during inauguration of Swaminarayan Hindu Mandir in Paris through video conferencing, Mr Modi said, From technology, AI and defence to space and climate action, both nations are moving forward together with new momentum and renewed energy. He said, both sides also celebrating this year as the India-France Year of Innovation.
The Prime Minister said, the India-France Strategic Partnership is special because it rests upon the strong foundation of the longstanding cultural and political connections. He said, history bears witness to the sacrifices of Indian soldiers in France, a history that continues to live in the collective memory and hearts.
Mr Modi said, those interested in languages also know the important role French scholars have played in promoting and popularising Sanskrit. He said, the writings of Romain Rolland on Ramakrishna Paramahansa and Swami Vivekananda brought both societies even closer together. The Prime Minister said, from Paris to the Sri Aurobindo Ashram in Puducherry, The Mother’s spiritual journey inspired countless Indian and French seekers. He said, decades ago, Srila Prabhupada Swami also came to France and through ISKCON, he opened a new chapter in the spiritual relationship between India and France.
Mr Modi said, today, yoga has also become an important medium of people-to-people connection between India and France. He said, the images from International Yoga Day in front of the Eiffel Tower are a wonderful example of the popularity of yoga in France. He added that now, through the magnificent BAPS Swaminarayan temple, a new chapter is being added to the India-France deep cultural relationship.
The Prime Minister said, these days, there is much discussion about the possibilities of India-France joint ventures. He said, the Swaminarayan Temple has added a new dimension to this possibility as well. He added that this temple is Made in India and Built in France. Mr Modi said, a significant portion of the stone used in the temple was carved in India. He said, India’s ancient craftsmanship and talent have now come together with modern engineering in France.
The Prime Minister hoped that this temple will stand for centuries as a symbol of cooperation and the immense possibilities that exist between India and France. He said, Swaminarayan temples have always been centres not only of devotion but also of service. Mr Modi expressed confidence that the cultural and spiritual messages that emanate from the temple will benefit people across Europe. He said, the temple will not only enrich the diversity of France, but will also bring renewed energy to the cultural relationship between India and France.
