17 CFT Illicit Timber, 2 Quintals Firewood Seized During Joint Patrol in Keller

Shopian, KNT: The Forest Department, Forest Block Nagwan Keller, in coordination with Police Keller, seized 17 cubic feet of timber and two quintals of firewood during a patrolling operation in Compartment No. RB-31 of Nagwan Keller on Tuesday.

Officials said the joint team recovered two round-shaped logs of Badloo timber measuring approximately 17 cubic feet, along with two quintals of firewood.

The seized timber was allegedly illegally felled by Azim Paswal, son of Nazir Ahmad Paswal, and Yaqoob Kalas, son of Karam Din Kalas, residents of Naserpora, Mukan-i-Dunaroo, Keller, officials said

Following the seizure, FIR No. 94/2026 was registered at Police Station Keller under Sections 305(e) and 223 of the BNS, along with Section 26 of the Indian Forest Act.

Further legal proceedings in the matter are underway, officials said. [KNT]
