Bengal Gears Up To Welcome Goddess Durga As Durga Puja Festivities Begin

West Bengal is gearing up for Durga Puja, as Panchami brings the festive excitement to a peak. Across Kolkata and other parts of the state, beautifully decorated pandals, dazzling lights and artistic idols of Goddess Durga are giving the streets a festive look. Around 57,500 Durga Pujas are being organised across West Bengal this year, including more than 3,300 in Kolkata alone.

From grand, theme-based pandals to traditional community and household worship, the celebrations showcase Bengal’s rich cultural heritage and artistic creativity. Thousands of people have already begun visiting pandals, while crowds are expected to grow further over the coming days. Police and civic authorities have stepped up security, traffic management and crowd-control arrangements to ensure safe and smooth celebrations.
