Nation pays homage to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on his birth anniversary
NEW DELHI: The Nation pays homage to former Prime Minister and Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee on his 96th birth anniversary today. The day is also celebrated as Good Governance Day. Vajpayee was elected ten times to the Lok Sabha and twice to the Rajya Sabha. He was a parliamentarian par excellence, who had the trust, affection and belief of the people in his leadership. As a parliamentarian and particularly as Prime Minister, he made innumerable important contributions which paved the way for a stronger economy through bold reforms and rapid development of infrastructure.
President Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid floral tributes to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee at Sadaiv Atal memorial in New Delhi on the occasion of his birth anniversary today. Union Minister Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, Nirmala Sitharaman, Piyush Goyal, Hardeep Singh Puri , Dr. Harsh Vardhan and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla among others also paid floral tributes to the former prime minister.
Home Minister Amit Shah paid rich tributes to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on his birth anniversary. Mr. Shah said, Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee started the era of good governance, development and welfare of the downtrodden in the country through his ideology and principle based politics. He said that the national service and conscientious efforts of the former Prime Minister will always remain a source of inspiration for everyone.
Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar paid tributes to the former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on his birth anniversary. He said, Vajpayee’s politics and life based on ideologies and principles will keep inspiring generations to come. Mr. Javadekar also shared a video message remembering an instance when he met Mr. Vajpayee while he was in Pune for a political function. He said, Atalji touched everyone’s heart with his multi-faceted personality. Mr. Javadekar also conveyed greetings of Good Governance day to everyone.
Uttar Pradesh government will celebrate the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee as good governance day or sushasan Divas. Kisan gosthees or Farmers conclave will be organized all over the state on this occasion. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also interact with the farmers of the state through video conference. State BJP unit will hold “kisan samvad” functions at over 2,500 places in the state.
Gujarat BJP has decided to celebrate the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee as Sushasan Diwas – Good Governance day today. State BJP spokesperson Bharat Pandyan said that the party along with the state government will organize Kisan Kalyan programmes at 248 bloks on this occasion. The party has also organized big screens in the rural areas of the state for live telecast of release of 18 thousand crore rupees into 9 crore farmer’s account by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
