KHCWT welcomes RSS Sarkaryawah Dattatreya Hosabale’s statement regarding the return and rehabilitation of Kashmiri Pandits
Kashmiri Hindu Cultural Welfare Trust ( R), Bangalore, the front
organization of the displaced Kashmiri Pandits in Karnataka, engaged in
their relief and rehabilitation, has welcomed the statement of the new
RSS Sarkaryavaha Ma Sri Dattatreya Hosabale that too on Navreh,
Kashmiri New Year Day.
His appeal to the Kashmiri Pandit community to return to their
homeland, saying the priority should now be to ensure their
rehabilitation has largely been welcomed, given the long standing
credibility of RSS and its proximity with the ruling government.
His remarks that for Kashmiri Pandits, it needed a Sankalp, a unified
resolve, to give direction and specificity to the future vision," are heart
touching. He wished that Kashmiri Pandits celebrate their next new year
in the Valley.
Further his statement on Khir Bhavani, Martand and Avanti Pura temples
required urgent repair and revival is refreshing and excellent. He
expressed the desire that Sharada Peeth University should be reborn.
He celebrated icons of Kashmir and called them examples of sacrifice
and bravery, Hosabale hailed Sirya Bhatta and Lalitaditya as two icons
of Kashmir. He also shared the story of Guru Tegh Bahadur, who fought
for the Kashmiri Pandits.
Hosabale highly motivating speech and commitment to the Kashmiri
Pandit cause is consistent with their long-term support. Guru Golwalkar
played a key role in convincing the Maharaja to accede to India. During
the horror of 1990, RSS gave humanitarian aid and support to the
community.
Hosabale empathized with the pain and suffering of the Kashmiri
Pandits, who had to face unremitted violence and lost their lives, land,
and way of life, being reduced to Internally Displaced People.
We now hope that the NDA Government led by Sri Narendra Modiji
gives it a serious thought and takes strong and appropriate measures to
rehabilitate and restore the damage; dignity to the Hindu Samaj and
work out a practical pragmatic and longtime solution.
It is now 31 yrs and more than 800 lives sacrificed at the alter of our
motherland just to resist those who wanted us to surrender and serve
them as serfs and bonded laborer's in our own land? Those horrendous
scenes and the loud call insulting our women folk and wanting to satiate
their lust is unbelievable but etched in every Kashmiri Pandit’s mind. The
scar of those wounds can never be easily healed or erased. But at least
present Government can assuage and apply some balm. This has to be
done very carefully in consultation with the Leaders of the Community
so that these kinds of things never repeat in history. Of course the
families that have suffered can never forget or forgive.
As the days pass our elders are slowly withering away and the younger
generation are living with this memory. So even before more perish; we
appeal to this Government to soothe the wounds quickly so that the
Hindu Samaj which has got a major traditional and faithful connect with
their Native land go back and live peacefully once again. There are
several steps necessary to be done including restoring of our heritage and
cultural structures like the Sharada Peeth and also pride of place to the
Sharada Language that belongs to the tradition of Kashmir.
Our humble appeal therefore to the Honorable Prime Minister to rekindle
our Asmitha and `Aatma Nirbhar by appointing immediately a
Committee including the Leaders of the Kashmir Samaj to work out the
modalities within a given time frame. Government must give it an
official status so that it isn’t just cosmetic and show that it means real
business this time. This will restore the confidence and boost the morale
of the entire community and also help in restoring peace in the valley.
It is time to convert dreams into reality in regard to the return and
resettlement of the Kashmiri Pandit community in the valley of Kashmir.
The emotional connect needs to be reinforced as the real connect in terms
of the prevailing socio-political climate of the Union Territory of Jammu
and Kashmir..
In order to guarantee the sense of security, four important preludes
require to be considered by the Centre urgently paving way for smooth
resettlement of the displaced community in the valley. These preludes
will also work as the confidence-building measures as well. The four
preludes comprise the political empowerment of the displaced
community by way of reservation/nomination in the Assembly of the
UT, the constitution of a Special Crimes Tribunal-Court to go into the
excesses committed against the minorities of J&K over the last 35 years,
the establishment of a Board through a legislative process for protection,
preservation and promotions of all Hindu temples and shrines in
Kashmir valley and single place settlement resolution of the displaced
community in the valley of Kashmir assuring the sense of security
required.
The nation, state, polity, government and the political parties need to
come on the same page to make a new history in Jammu and Kashmir.
We once again thank the RSS for its unstinted and unwavering support
that it has been extending and this time without mincing more words.
Ma Dattatreya ji is scholar and also widely travelled. He has served the
student community and appeals to youths. Further his indepth
understanding on issues is highly significant and noteworthy.
Our Pranaams to Sarasangachalak Dr. Mohanji Bhagwat and also Ma Sri
Dattetreya Hosabale for the sentiments and seriousness shown in this
regard.
We hope our request will be
acceded
