Accommodation for PM package employees should be arranged on war footing

Representatives of all key political parties agree to push for a common agenda for the welfare of KPs in valley in a webinar organised by TRN

The webinar organized by TRN to discuss the state of Kashmiri Pandits who are currently living in Kashmir valley threw up some clear action points and takeaways for the government with regards to the problems of PM package employees in particular.

The webinar was attended by representatives of all key political parties in JK UT.

There were some heated moments as panelists tried to justify the work their respective parties had done for the welfare of KPs in general. However, it was heartening to see that each of the panelists empathized with the plight of KPs currently living in Kashmir and in one voice resolved to work on a common agenda and push for its implementation through the current administration.

Rajiv Pandita, Spokesperson, BJP Kashmir displaced district clarified that it was only after BJP came in power that the problems of KPs, who had not left the valley, were attended to. He also mentioned that BJP had accelerated the construction of the accommodation for PM package employees and were also looking into other problems of DPC, promotions etc. Rajiv also emphasized that PM package is a confidence building measure and hence should get all the attention from all stakeholders to make these employees feel comfortable and safe in the valley.

R K Pardesi, State secretary PDP emphasized that it was the founder of PDP Mufti Mohd Sayeed, who announced the construction of concrete flats instead of pre fab sheds. He also said the safety of political workers is purely the responsibility of government referring to the recent killing of a KP BJP councilor Rakesh Pandita

Sanjay Koul who is the chairman of displaced employees forum was very vocal about their demands. He reiterated the accommodation is the number one issue. He also said that the government should not go back on their promise of two bedroom sets.

M N Pandita, vice chairman congress minority cell appealed to the state and center government to take cognizance of the demands of the protesting people in Jagti who are pleading for the enhancement of monthly relief.
