Sensex, Nifty closed with gains

The Sensex and the Nifty today closed with gains supported by gains in shares of banking and finance companies. Both stocks rose more than 0.7 per cent amid mixed global cues.

The Sensex at Bombay Stock Exchange climbed 395 points, or 0.75 per cent, to finish at 52,880. The Nifty at the National Stock Exchange also gained 112 points, or 0.71 per cent, to settle at 15,834.
