Over 1 lakh 10,000 people evacuated so far in flood-affected areas of Bihar

In Bihar, over one lakh ten thousand people have been evacuated so far in flood-affected areas of the state. Eleven districts including Darbhanga, Madhubani, East and West Champaran are  under the grip of flood. About four hundred villages of the state are surrounded with flood waters.

Sixteen teams of NDRF and SDRF have been pressed into relief and rescue operations. The people are being shifted to higher and safer places. Deputy Chief Minister Renu Devi said, 216 community kitchens have been set up to provide cooked food to affected people in flood-ravaged areas. Medical teams have been deployed in affected areas for COVID vaccination.

Meanwhile, the flood situation remained grim in flood affected areas of the state. Several rivers including Kosi, Bagmati and Gandak are flowing above danger mark. Surging water of river Kosi entered into over three hundred houses in Supaul district following breach of Dagmara embankment. Water Resources Minister Sanjay Kumar Jha the situation is under control and thete is no threat to the western Kosi embankment.
