External Affairs Minister briefs leaders of political parties on Afghanistan’s current situation

External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar is now briefing the  leaders of several political parties on the Afghanistan’s current situation. The briefing is underway at Parliament House in New Delhi.

AIR correspondent quoting sources reports, Mr. Jaishankar’s brief is centred around how many Indians have returned and how many are still to be evacuated and India’s strategy to deal with the crisis-hit country.

Former Prime Minister and JD (S) leader H.D. Devegowda, NCP Chief Sharad Pawar, Congress leaders Mallikarjun Kharge and Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, TMC MP Saugata Roy, DMK leader T.R. Ballu, BJD’s Prasanna Acharya are present in the meeting.

Union Ministers Pralhad Joshi, Piyush Goyal, V. Muraleedharan, Meenakshi Lekhi and Arjun Ram Meghwal are attending the meeting. Foreign Secretary H. V. Shringla and Senior security officials are also present in the meet.

India has been in touch with several leading powers over the situation in Afghanistan. The country began its evacuation mission on 16th of this month and it has already brought back over 800 people, including several Afghan Sikhs and Hindus.
