JKBOSE slashes 40 % syllabi for pvt students of 10-12th classes
Amid the Covid pandemic, the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education Friday relaxed the syllabus for forthcoming bi-annual, private examination of class 10th to 12th by 40 per cent.
A notification in this regard has been issued by Director Academics Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education Dr. Farooq Ahmad Peer.
“It is notified for the information of all concerned that, in view of the prevailing Covid-19 Pandemic, the following concession shall be awarded to the students of Classes 10th, 11th and 12th Annual (Private)/ Bi-annual examination in the forthcoming Examination 2020-21 Kashmir Division/Winter Zone areas of Jammu Division and UT of Ladakh and Annual (Private) [Biannual 2021 Summer Zone areas of Jammu Division, as a one-time measure”, the notification reads.
The students appearing in these examinations shall have to attempt only 60% marks from the question papers which shall be treated as 100% at the time of evaluation. The score of students attempting less than 60% from the question paper shall be raised proportionately, the notification reads.
The students should note that3 question papers will be set from the entire syllabus prescribed for the said examination. However, as the student has to attempt only 60% of questions instead of attempting all the questions, thus, there is a resultant concession of 40%, it reads.
Explanation, for students appearing in subjects having no practical courses, the question paper is of 100 marks and the student has to attempt questions with a total of 60 marks.
“However, for all such subjects who have both theory and practical components, the concession will apply to theory part only. e.g. in Physics, Chemistry and Biology that have a practical component of 30 marks and theory question paper of 70 marks, the students shall attempt 42 marks ( 60% of 70 marks only), which will be raised to 100% i.e. 70 marks. For other papers having a different marks scheme for theory papers, the student shall have to attempt 60% of marks allotted to the theory paper”, the notification reads.
