Jammu and Kashmir: Proposal on increasing the income of Municipal Corporation in cold storage, development stopped

The decisions taken on the proposals to increase the income of the Municipal Corporation are still in cold storage. The General House meeting is being held on 11.11. Earlier, the proposals to increase the income are debated, but due to lack of consensus, they do not come to fruition. At present, the income of the Municipal Corporation has reached around 16 hundred crores.

All the income has been increased by augmenting the sources already earned. Till now no new tax has been imposed in the Municipal Corporation. In the earlier house also there was a debate on imposition of house tax. After this, there was a debate on the imposition of entry fee for coming within the limits of the Municipal Corporation. Councilors have not been able to agree on this. Apart from this, there has been debate on the imposition of many other taxes including property tax.

Decisions taken in the General House meeting on increasing income have been implemented. Whatever is passed in the house, it will be implemented in the same way. With the increase in income, the development works are accelerating.
