J&K set to host maiden conference for attracting real estate investors on Dec 27
Focusing to attract investors in the real estate sector, Jammu and Kashmir is set to host first of its kind conference here on December 27, which will also be attended by the Union Minister for Housing and Urban Development Hardeep Puri and Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha.

Official sources said that initiative of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, the conference will hold ‘manthan’ and prepare a blueprint on investment in the real estate sector in which stalwarts in the sector from across the country will be taking part.
“The Jammu and Kashmir government is going to organize a conference of investors in the real estate sector on December 27, the first of its kind conference at Jammu,” said an official adding that the government is going to major initiatives for investment in the real estate sector in Jammu and Kashmir.
“After recently approving the rules for use of agricultural land for non-agricultural use, the Jammu and Kashmir government to be attended by Hardeep Puri, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, office bearers of National Real Estate Development Council, apart from many central secretaries and senior officers from the Union Territory,” they said.
According to sources, the conference will encourage investors to invest in tourism, film and entertainment, commercial and warehousing sectors in Jammu and Kashmir, besides housing facilities at affordable rates, luxury housing, second homes and rental housing in Jammu and Kashmir.
The J&K government has so far attracted investors in the industrial sector and the results have also been very encouraging, they said adding, “recently, the government has notified the rules regarding use of agricultural land for non-agricultural purposes. With this, now the unusable agricultural land can be used for investment in the residential sector as well.”
The main objective of the conference was to attract investment.

Durga Shankar Mishra, Secretary, Ministry of Housing and Urban Development will be present in the proposed conference scheduled at Convention Center Jammu.
Chief Secretary Dr. Arun Kumar Mehta, Principal Secretary Housing and Urban Development Dheeraj Gupta, National President of National Real Estate Development Council Rajan N. Bandelkar and Vice Chairman Dr. Niranjan Hiranandani will also attend the event.
