J&K revises rent rates for circuit, guest houses
The government on Friday revised room rents to be charged by the Directorate of Hospitality and Protocol in Circuit houses and State guest houses in Jammu and Srinagar which shall come to effect from today.
The government also notified terms and conditions for accommodation to be offered for employees, patients, journalists and others.
As per the order issued by the Talat Parvez Rohella, Commissioner Secretary to the Government Hospitality and Protocol Department, accommodation will be allotted for no longer than five days at a stretch to bonafide touring officers from the Districts or from other States/UTs.
“In supersession to all previous orders issued on the subject, the sanction is hereby accorded to the revision of room rent rates to be charged by the Directorate of Hospitality and Protocol, J&K in Circuit Houses and State Guest Houses at Jammu/Srinagar w.e.f 1st January 2022”, the order reads.
As per the order, the stay would be extendable beyond 5 days to a maximum of 10 days by the Director, Hospitality and Protocol. Stay beyond 10 days to a maximum of 30 days shall be sanctioned by the Administrative Secretary, Hospitality and Protocol Department. Stay beyond 30 days would require the sanction of the Chief Secretary.
Government employees shall be treated on the official tour only on the authority of their superior officers, Head of Departments shall be treated on their own authority.
Further, No allottee (except a patient) will ordinarily be allotted accommodation beyond 5 days. Any extension of stay beyond 5 days shall not be allowed except under special circumstances with the prior approval of the competent authority as mentioned above and against the payment of penal rent, which shall be twice the ordinary rate, applicable w.e.f the 6th day of stay.
No patient will ordinarily be allotted beyond 15 days. In case, the period of Stay exceeds beyond 15 days, the rent will be charged at double rate w.e.f. 16th day or stay. Any with an extension of stay prior written approval of the above mentioned competent authority (ies) and payment of the above-mentioned panel rent.
Accommodation on concessional rates shall only be provided to the patients suffering from life-consuming disease on the production of relevant documents/certificates and they shall be charged at the same rate as shall be applicable in case of category-A (Government/Retired employees) in the order.
Accredited journalists shall be provided accommodation only on the recommendations of Director Information, J&K.
The request of the officials/officers of PSUs, Autonomous Bodies, Boards, accredited journalists recommended by the Director Information Department, Government of J&K, Private individuals for accommodation will be considered subject to availability after Government employees on tour have been provided accommodation.
Rooms shall be provided subject to availability. Notwithstanding the general norms prescribed above, the Director, H&P may make allotments depending upon the requirement and actual availability of the different categories of accommodation. This issue with the concurrence of the Finance Department conveyed vide U.O.N0.HP/Estt/35/2018, dated: 10-12-2020, the order reads.
As per the order, the revised rate for Govt. employees, retired employees and their families, legislatures/Ex-Legislatures, accredited journalists has been set as Rs.1500. The revised rate for government employees, retired employees and their families, legislatures, ex-Legislatures, accredited Journalists has been set as Rs.900.
For others, the revised rate has been set as Rs.3000 (suite) and Rs.2000 for the room. The revised rate for patients with life-consuming diseases has been set as Rs.1000. Revises rate for Guest House Srinagar/Jammu has been set as (suite) Rs.1500 and room Rs.1000.
Further, the revised rate for Hari Niwas Palace Guest House, Srinagar has been set as Rs.5000 for Suite, Rs.3000 for Single Suite and Rs.2000 for the room.
