As the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) of Jammu is set to begin Out Patient Department (OPD) soon, the institution before taking a final call on this, has launched its logo filled with socio-cultural spiritual ethos of Jammu region.

“The AIIMS Jammu is gearing up to start OPD services from this year for which preparations are in full swing to make it a separate identity from rest of the institutions functional across the country,” official sources said.
Sources said that ahead of initiating OPD services, the logo of AIIMS Jammu has been launched, which has also been approved by the Union Ministry of Health.
The logo, source said, reflects the socio-cultural and spiritual ethos of the Jammu region, which has been proposed by the senior head of the AIIMS along with ideas from other colleagues.
The picture of Vaishno Devi Bhawan has also got a special place in the logo besides historical Raghunath Temple, River Tawi, the lifeline of Jammu and the first bridge, has also been the special focus.
Prepared in the Golden letter, the logo ‘Arogyam Param Bhagyam, SwasthamSarvarthasadhanam’ has been scripted in the Center of the logi, which means “health is the ultimate destiny and everything is accomplished by health”.
“The idea behind introducing the logo was to make famous places of Jammu more popular because they have special places for people of Jammu and their life,” he said.
All recognized places having identities of Jammu have been added in the logo, he said further adding, “apart from the Raghunath temple, Vaishno Devi, Tawi river is another identity of Jammu and it is designed with golden border line as it symbolizes purity and happiness.”
It also depicts a snake on a rod, which is called the rod of Asclepius—the god of healing in Greek mythology and the snake symbolizes rejuvenation.
“The logo has been approved by the Ministry of Health and from now onwards, it will also be used in the making of all official correspondences,” he said.
It is necessary to mention here that All India Institutes of Medical Sciences established in many parts of the country have used prominent destinations to promote local culture among people.
Sources further said that the first batch of MBBS is already going on in Jammu AIIMS and the classes are being online due to covid.
After this, it was agreed to set up its classes firstly in GMC Kathua and then in GMC Jammu, but now the classes are not being conducted in either of these two places, adding sources said, “classes of AIIMS Jammu will be held this year in a rented building in Miran Sahib area and the classes for second year are also to be held this year and there is an enough space to continue with the classes.”
