Jmu’s 1st musical fountain to open for public today
To provide further fillip to tourism in Jammu region and especially in the winter capital-the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha will be inaugurating a first musical fountain in Jammu at Bagh-e- Bahu on Friday.

The event planned by the directorate of Tourism Jammu will also see light and sound show along with the inauguration of the musical fountain.
The light-and-sound fountain project worth Rs.10.5 crore is among other such initiatives being undertaken under the Prime Minister’s Development Package (PMDP) for the tourism promotion in J&K.
As per tourism official, the light-and-sound fountain is set up in the park the motive of the light-and-sound fountain in Jammu’s famous park was to provide an opportunity for evening leisure for tourists and locals.
He added that during the night, the fountain becomes more attractive which will help in attracting tourists. It is the first fountain of its kind in the Jammu region.

The directorate of Jammu has been organizing events to promote tourism in Jammu. The directorate is working to upgrade the infrastructure and explore the unexplored destinations both in Jammu as well as in Kashmir for the promotion of tourism and economic upliftment of the people associated with the tourism sector and those living around these untapped tourist destinations They had organised several events for the publicity and promotion of the unexplored destinations to harness their huge potential.
Last month the Directorate organized Heritage walk on the eve National of Tourism Day from Ambaran (Buddhist Site) to Jio Pota Ghat, Akhnoor. The motive of organising this Heritage Walk was to promote the historic sites in and around Jammu particularly Akhnoor which has many historical sites such as Ambaran (Budhist Site), Akhnoor Fort, Guru Dwara Sundar Singh Sahib, Pandav Guffa, Jio Pota and Kameshwar Temple.
Many more promotional events are in pipe line especially in hilly areas to highlight the potential of Winter Sports in Jammu Division viz skiing, sledging and Ice-Skating.

A similar light-and-sound project is also being established at Hari Parbat in Srinagar worth Rs.5.5 crore. That project too is on the verge of completion and likely to be thrown open in coming days. It is learnt that another light-and-sound project had been sanctioned and it would be established near the Nigeen Lake for which necessary clearances were being obtained from the regulatory authority, while a light-and-sound fountain near SKICC in Srinagar has already become an attraction.
