ACB to probe ‘illegal’ colonies along Ring Road, JDA, Revenue official under scanner

Several revenue and Jammu Development Authority (JDA) official are under scanner as Jammu and Kashmir government has tasked Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) to probe alleged illegal colonies surfaced along under construction 58.25 KM, four lane Ring Road.

The Ring Road starts from Raya Morh of Jammu-Pathankot National Highway in Samba district and connects with Jagti on the Jammu Udhampur National Highway.The phase 1 of the project from Akhnoor Road to Kot Bhalwal has already been opened for traffic.

Credible sources informed The News Now that ACB has started investigating the matter, adding, the operation illegal colonies took its shape in alleged connivance of JDA and Revenue officers.

They added both the departments are responsible for alteration of agriculture land into banjarkadeem, abetted encroachment of adjoining state land, levelling, installing of electricity polls and water supply pipes etc.

The latest move came to fore after Divisional Commissioner Jammu Rahul Langer’s visit to the Bishnah side where he found illegal colonies being popped up.

Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Dr. Raghav Langer on Friday conducted an extensive tour of the Bishnah area and took stock of various issues related to revenue and land record.

During the tour the Div. Com visited Mehmoodpur, PirthipurNogran, Kotli Mia Fateh, Deoli, Dabar, Sarore and other adjoining villages where new colonies have been demarcated.

The Div. Com took a strong note of ongoing constructions of private housing colonies, real estate projects without permission of JDA and directed the concerned officers to immediately seek requisite documents and submit a report to his office.

While JDA VC Pankaj Mangotra did not respond to the phone calls for comment over the issue , the highly placed sources said that the mighty land grabbers and developers are enjoying patronage in the administration and police.
