Locals of Bandipora staged protest against Rural Development Department in Panar

Dozens of locals from Panar area of Bandipora staged a protest against the Rural Development Department. He alleged that the department had neglected this extremely backward area in the Prime Minister’s Gram Awas Yojana. He says that even today many people in this area are living in mud sheds with their families.

He, along with the sarpanch and other panchs of his area, pointed out a number of such sheds, saying that although a total of 57 such persons or houses had been geo-taken by the department employees in the area.
Then why almost all the people were ignored after the geotech. The ones who deserved it were ignored. Or those who had geotech. He says that if a village located near this area wakes up, then more than forty such houses have been included in the list of assistance which was geo-techned. He blamed a few employees of the department and said that under the connivance and personal interest of these employees, they were benefited by doing so many geotechs in a neighboring village while the area was completely neglected.

He demanded the District Administration Bandipora, especially the District Development Commissioner Bandipora, Dr. Owais Ahmed to order an inquiry into the matter so that the benefit of this important scheme could reach the people belonging to every area who belong to it.

It should be noted that Panar is a hilly area about ten kilometers away from Bandipora Town. Where there is no land for farming or other necessities. Located at the foot of a mountain with a population of about a thousand people, most of the people in this highly connected area earn their livelihood through labor. While dozens of people or houses are still living in mud houses or sheds.

In such a scenario, getting a scheme like Prime Minister’s Awas Yojana to their homes is no less than a big dream of their life. But some of the employees do not seem to be fulfilling this important purpose of their lives due to lack of equanimity or other unknown reasons.
