Govt directs Edu deptt to ensure registration of teachers, students

The administration in Kashmir has called for 100 per cent registration of beneficiaries teachers and students in colleges and schools under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) Sehat scheme.

The directions in this regard have been issued by the Divisional Commissioner P K Pole to Director School Education Kashmir and Director Colleges, Higher Education Department Jammu and Kashmir.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Abhiyaan, also known as Ayushman Bharat or the National Health Protection Mission (AB-NHPM) or Modicare, on 23 September 2018.

After two years of successful implementation of Ayushman Bharat, the Government of Jammu & Kashmir decided to extend the benefits of AB PM-JAY to the entire population through a 100% government funding mechanism and launched Universal Health Coverage (AB PM-JAY SEHAT). The scheme was launched by the Prime Minister of India on 26th December 2020.

A senior government official told that the decision was taken by the Divisional Commissioner P K Pole in a recent held meeting with the senior government of the education department of Kashmir on implementation of Covid Appropriate Behaviour and Covid SOPs in educational institutes of Kashmir.

He added, “During the meeting, the Divisional Commissioner has directed officials for ensuring 100 per cent of registration of all the beneficiaries’ student, teachers and staff members under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) Sehat scheme.

The official added that the step taken by the administration will go a long way and will benefit both teachers and students in the Kashmir division.

Meanwhile, regarding the vaccination of students and teachers, the official said that the Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, P K Pole had directed schools heads, principals, zonal education officers and chief education officers to ensure vaccination of all the eligible students.

The eligible students include all those students aged 15 years and above, including those who shall be attaining the age of 15 years as on 01.012023, he added. Adding that he said that the Divisional Commissioner Kashmir has directed that any teacher or staff member who is yet to take two doses of vaccination shall be vaccinated urgently.
