Police arrests 05 gamblers in Srinagar; Stake money seized

Acting tough against the social crimes, Police in Srinagar have arrested 05 gamblers and seized stake money from their possession.

Acting on specific information, a police party led by SHO Police Station Shaheed Gunj under the supervision of SDPO Shaheed Gunj raided a gaming site at Habakadal Chowk near Habakadal Bridge following an input about gambling activities and apprehended five gamblers. They have been identified as Farooq Ahmad Goojri son of Gh Qaudir resident of Reshi Mohalla Habakadal, Reyaz Ahmad Khan son of Gh Rasool Khan resident of Habakadal, Waseem Ahmad Rah son of Mohd Yousuf Rah resident of Reshi Mohalla Habakadal, Bashir Ahmad Mir son of Gh Rasool Mir resident of Habakadal and Tanveer Ahmad Bhat son of Ab Rehman Bhat resident of Zaindar Mohalla Haba Kadal Srinagar.

Officers have seized stake money of ₹1,04,000/- and playing cards from the gamblers. They have been shifted to Police Station where they remain in custody.

Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 13/2022 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Shaheed Gunj and investigation has been taken up.

Persons found indulging in criminal activities shall be dealt as per law. Community members are requested to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with the local police units.
