B&J Hospital Fire Incident Orthopedic services to run 24*7 at 5 hospitals in Kashmir
With normal functioning at Bones and Joint (B&J) Hospital Barzulla Srinagar coming to halt due to a fire incident, the Health Department on Sunday said that Orthopedic services will be provided round the clock at five hospitals in Kashmir for the patients.
Further, 14 doctors have been kept at the disposal of the Chief Medical Officers for running 24×7 Orthopedic clinics in the five health institutes. The directions have been provided by the Director of Health Services Kashmir, Dr. Mushtaq Ahmad Rather.
“Due to the fire incident at Bone & Joint Hospital Barzulla Srinagar on 4th March normal functioning of the hospital has come to a halt for the time being. In order to provide round the clock services to the patients, it is hereby ordered that the following health institutions of this Directorate shall run 24×7 Orthopedic services in the interest of patient care”, the order reads.
The health institute includes Jawahar Lal Nehru Memorial Hospital Rainawari Srinagar, District Hospital Pulwama, District Hospital Kulgam, Sub District Hospital Kupwara and Sub District Hospital Sopore.
Consequently, the Chief Medical Officers and Medical Superintendents of the above-named institution’s arc directed to put in place all the requisite arrangements so that the Orthopedic services to the patients are started from 07th March 2022 (Monday) at the above-said institutions.
“The staff required for running the Orthopedic Departments on a 24×7 basis in these institutions shall be pooled by way of internal arrangements. Dr. Mir Mushtaq, Medical Officer, Director of Health Services Kashmir shall be the Nodal Officer for proper coordination & management of these Orthopedic Clinics. He shall update the Director of Health Services Kashmir about the functioning of these Orthopedic Clinics on daily basis”, the order reads.
In a separate order, the Director of Health Services Kashmir nominated 14 doctors who are kept at the disposal of the Chief Medical Officer of Kupwara, Pulwama, Kulgam, M/S JLNM Hospital Srinagar for running 24×7 Orthopedic clinics in the five health institutes.
Besides, Chief Medical Officer concerned are hereby directed to provide para-medical and other support staff for smooth running of 24×7 orthopedic service to the institutions indicated in the order.
It is pertinent to mention here that a massive fire broke out at Bones and Joint Hospital Barzulla Srinagar on Friday evening. Reports said that the fire broke out from the emergency theatre. Following the massive fire, hospital authorities and locals came to the rescue of patients, who were then shifted to other hospitals in Srinagar for treatment.
Whereas, on Saturday, the Additional Chief Secretary, Health and Medical Education, Vivek Bharadwaj and other government officials visited the Bone and Joint Hospital, Barzulla to review the situation in aftermath of a fire incident that occurred at the hospital.
Right after the visit, the Additional Chief Secretary had said that all efforts are in full swing to ensure that all services are restored within the next ten days at the hospital. While the Principal Government Medical College, Srinagar Dr. Samia Rashid in her statement had refuted the LPG cylinder blast being the reason behind the fire incident at B&J Hospital Srinagar. The investigation in the cause of the fire is being ascertained, she had said.
