Women making significant impact in different fields: LG

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Monday extended his greetings on the eve of International Women’s Day and said women from Jammu and Kashmir are making significant impact in different fields.

“I wish to congratulate our sisters and daughters for their achievements and for selflessly and tirelessly working for a peaceful and prosperous Jammu and Kashmir,” Sinha said.

Women from Jammu and Kashmir are making a significant impact in different fields with persistent and constructive efforts of nation building.

“Women are embodiment of compassion and selflessness. I salute their indomitable spirit and monumental contribution in socio-economic growth, eradicating social evils and strengthening Panchayat and grass-root institutions,” the Lt Governor said.

On this occasion let us reaffirm our commitment for their empowerment and equal participation in building an ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’, he added.

Meanwhile, Army on Monday imparted self-defence training to girls and women from mountainous and remote areas of Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district to ensure their mental and physical fitness, an official said.
According to an Army spokesperson, the initiative was part of the International Women’s Day celebrations. The International Women’s Day is celebrated across the globe annually on March 8. The self-defence session was organised for the young women of Darhal area in Rajouri district on Monday, he said.

After a session of yoga, the training and demonstration of martial arts was conducted with an objective of addressing fears of women and to cement their perspective of being mentally and physically strong enough to defend themselves against all odds, he said.
