Preparation begins
As the Jammu and Kashmir Administration has tightened its belt for this year’s Shri Amarnath Pilgrimage, which remained suspended for the two previous years due to COVID pandemic, the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board will begin online registration for the pilgrims from the month of April and per day, nearly 20,000 pilgrims can register themselves on the official website.
Online registration for the pilgrims desiring for annual Amarnath Yatra will commence from the month of April. Every day more than 20,000 devotees will be able to register for the yatra for both the routes while snow clearing work on both the tracks will also be started by next week.
From April, devotees will be able to register for the Yatra through online mode for which preparations are in full swing to make the yatra a success this year. RFID based tracking will also be done for the vehicles and the pilgrims. The limit of 20,000 registrations per day has been fixed.
The Board has since taken several effective steps to ensure the safety of Amarnath pilgrims and Radio Frequency Identification will be used to track the movement of vehicles and pilgrims during the Yatra and would be issued to all the devotees. Shri Amarnath Shrine Board this year is also expected to expand facilities to ease travel for the pilgrims to the cave shrine.
Previously yatra was four to five days exercise but he days will soon be cut short for the pilgrims with the introduction of the helicopter service expected to commence from Srinagar. Earlier the heli-service was only from Baltal and Pahalgam but the SASB is planning to launch it from Srinagar. The final date for this year’s annual Shri Amrnathji pilgrimage is yet to be announced officially, but the Jammu and Kashmir administration has started making all arrangements to facilitate the pilgrims from across the country. A Yatri Niwas with a capacity of more than 3200 pilgrims being constructed by the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board is also coming up at Chanderkote in Ramban district.
