JKAACL Jammu to organise Two-Day Mega Traditional and Cultural Festival at Bani, Kathua during Baisakhi
Jammu, April 12, 2022: The Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art Culture and Languages (JKAACL) is organising a two-day Mega Traditional and Cultural Festival in Bani area of Kathua district during Baisakhi under the flagship programme of J&K Government for promotion of Traditional and Cultural Festivals of Jammu.
The Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory Government has conceived a flagship programme for the promotion of Traditional and Cultural Festivals of Jammu for which a budget of Rs 100 crore has been allocated.
The idea of the programme is to promote, preserve and propagate folk, traditional and cultural festivals of Jammu region which have been forgotten or are not much popular among the younger generation now a days.
In this regard JKAACL has finalised 75 mega festivals in Jammu region in which 35 Sufi festivals and 40 Mega Traditional and Cultural Festivals will be organised under four categories of Rs 5 lakh, 10 lakh, 20 lakh and 30 lakhs to revive the Sufi and traditional and cultural festivals of Jammu.
JKAACL in its first attempt has chosen Bani area of Kathua district where a two-day Mega Festival will be organised during Baisakhi under promotion of Traditional and Cultural Festivals of Jammu.
This area has been chosen as JKAACL has not been able to organise any such mega festival in the area which otherwise has rich tradition of folk and cultural festivals now forgotten by the new generation.
Hence to revive the tradition and create awareness among the young generation about their rich cultural heritage and folk lore, JKAACL will initiate the programme to organise such festival during Baisakhi and later move towards other areas under the programme.
