Schools with zero enrollment to be used as health institutes in Jammu
After Kashmir, the administration has now asked officials in Jammu to examine school buildings with zero enrollments of students for running health institutes.
Reports said that the Deputy Director Planning Directorate of Health Services Jammu and issued a communiqué to all the Chief Medical Officers of Jammu asking them to examine the over 245 primary school buildings. The Chief Medical Officers have been asked to submit the response in weeks’ time.
“This takes a reference to the various Health Institutes running in Rented Accommodation across Jammu Division. In this regard, the list of Primary Schools with zero enrollment has been received from the Administrative Department”, the official communiqué issued by Deep Sharma, Deputy Director Planning DHSK Jammu.
“You are requested to kindly examine the feasibility if any of these school buildings can be utilized for running health institutes. The inputs in this matter may be shared within week time positively for the appraisal of the higher authorities”, it added.
As per the details available, 22 primary schools from Doda with zero enrollment, 48 from Jammu, 30 from Kathua, 25 from Kishtwar, 17 from Poonch, 31 from Rajouri, 9 from Ramban, 5 from Reasi, 25 from Samba and 33 from Udhampur.
In addition to that, the list also mentions 35 primary schools from the Kashmir division with zero enrollment, which included 17 from Anantnag and 18 from Baramulla.
It is pertinent to mention here that earlier this week; the administration in Kashmir has also directed officials in Jammu to inspect as many as 250 schools with zero enrollments for use as government health centers. The decision comes at a time when the education department is planning to merge schools that are reeling under disproportionate student enrollment.
