probes deep into the life of Yasir Basheer Bhawani on his journey towards the higher goals.
Bhawani says that when he was around 30 years old he decided to go for higher studies in theatre adding
those days some of his friends were very negative about his ambitions saying Yasir being a villager what does
he know about George Bernard Shaw, Shakespeare, Bharat Natyam etc. and it was worthless for him to pursue
the theatre at such level.
However, he says that what these friends did not know was that he had already read all about these great
scriptures and their contribution to theatre adding it also made him more resolute to go for the plunge to
prove that he was not a non-serious candidate for theatre.
On joining NSD he also shares an anecdote on how destiny played a part in his grooming and his belief in
almighty finally brought him to the doors of NSD.
Yasir says that he had to stay put on Jammu Bus stand for around ten days without even having the luxury of a
bath due to ongoing turmoil and Operation Blue star in Punjab and how at the last moment when interview
date was about to expire a special train was arranged for the stranded passengers that pushed him towards
Delhi.
And in Delhi too his appearance was like a Sadhu due to his long hair and unwashed clothes but he managed
all the written and viva voce but forgot about the outcome in his search to visit various places in New Delhi.
It was only after he reached home that he was informed that he was selected and adds that it was that
moment that he decided to work only for the upliftment of Kashmir theatre believing that destiny had made
him so.
