Edu deptt ask officials not to issue order related to merger of schools
In strict instructions, the education department Monday enjoined Chief Education Officers and Zonal Education Officers in Kashmir not to issue clubbing or merger order of schools.
Further, the department has withdrawn any order issued in this regard by the Chief Education Officers and Zonal Education Officers.
Earlier this month, the reports emerged that the School Education Department would merge more than 700 schools that are reeling under disproportionate student enrollment. However, it has been observed by the Directorate of School Education Kashmir that the officials are issuing orders to merge and clubbing of government schools on their own.
Taking note of this, a circular in this regard has been issued by the Director of School Education Kashmir.
“The Competent authority for clubbing/merger of schools is the Government. It has been observed that Chief Education Officers and Zonal Education Officers on their own issue orders for clubbing/merger of schools”, the circular reads.
“Issuance of such orders is sheer misuse of official authority and overstepping of jurisdictional authority by the delinquent officers. All the Chief Education Officers and Zonal Education Officers are hereby put under strict instructions not to issue clubbing/merger orders. Order No: CEO/ A/II/3909-14/22 Dated: 20/04/2022 issued by Chief Education Officer Anantnag and Order No: ZEO/K/135/22 Dated: 26/02/2022 issued by Zonal Education Officer Kulgam are hereby rescinded ab-initio”, it added.
Further, any other clubbing/merger orders issued without the express approval of the competent authority are hereby deemed to have been withdrawn, it reads.
