Mahila Industrial estate to empower women folk in J&K
The Jammu and Kashmir administration with an aim to strengthen women entrepreneurs will soon be coming up with Mahila Industrial Estate in the Union Territory.
According to sources, the women industrial estate will be established in Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir.
“This will be the first women industrial estate first of its kind in Jammu and Kashmir while steps are being taken in the direction of women empowerment in Jammu and Kashmir by increasing female literacy rate, providing them quality education, making more women entrepreneurs empowered and self-reliant by providing financial support,” sources said.
They said that to provide digital banking and financial services in remote areas of Jammu and Kashmir, the Jammu Kashmir Rural Livelihood Mission has trained 125 women through Self Help Groups.
“Under the One Gram Panchayat – One Digi Pe Sakhi Mission, 2000 villages will be covered in the first phase,” sources added and claimed that under the leadership of Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, the administration is taking steps to improve the livings of women which will further increase curiosity of women to become self-reliant.
“The Jammu Kashmir Rural Livelihood Mission is working to provide the means of livelihood especially to the women of remote areas,” they said.
Notably, they said that last year, when the Lieutenant Governor had launched the One Gram Panchayat – One Digi Pay Sakhi Mission, he had distributed the Aadhaar based payment system Digi Pay Sakhi among the women folk.
“Apart from depositing money in banks, villagers can avail additional banking and financial services which include Pradhan Mantri Kisan Maandhan Yojana, registration for Kisan Credit Card, etc,” sources maintained.
They said that the social and economic freedom of women power has an important place in the progress of the nation and added, “the administration has started a movement for the social and economic development of women and for their empowerment, schemes like Hausla, Tejaswini, Umeed are being run by the government.”
