Amarnath Yatra: Admin deploys SSP, SP rank at base camp, cave shrine, addl troops en-route shrine
To provide adequate security arrangements and facilitate the journey of pilgrims en-route, the Jammu and Kashmir administration has deployed the officers of Senior Superintendents of Police and Superintendents of Police at the base camp and the cave shrine for an upcoming annual Shri Amarnath Yatra starting from June 30.
The 43 days long Shri Amarnath Yatra this year will conclude on August 11 on Raksha Bandhan, which remained suspended for two consecutive years due to COVID pandemic.
“The officers of the SSP have been given the responsibility of guarding the Charri Mubarak at the base camps whereas the officers of SP rank have been deployed at the cave shrine,” official sources said.
The officers, sources added, are to be deployed from June 20 in a phased manner.
Sources said that SSP Pawan Kumar Parihar has been deployed as security officer at the Pahalgam base camp while SSP Rajesh Kumar Sharma has been made Chief Security Officer at the Baltal base camp.
Sources further revealed that SSP Sandeep Kumar Mehta has been deployed at Pahalgam while SP Bharat Bhushan Sharma has been deployed as Assistant Police Travel Officer at Sheshnag Camp.
Moreover, SP Karanvir Singh at Panchtarni Base Camp, SP Manish Kumar as Assistant Police Travel Officer at Baltal Base Camp, SP Javed Iqbal as in-charge of Joint Police Control Room Pahalgam while SP Mujeeb-ul-Rehman as in-charge of Joint Police Control Room Baltal.
However, SSP Raj Singh Goria has been posted at Manigam Base Camp, they said.
Sources asserted that four SPs will be on special duty with the Security Squad during the Amarnath Yatra comprising SP Shabbir Ahmed and SP Waseq Ahmed in Kashmir Division and SP Tilak Raj and SP Farooq Ahmed Kesar in Jammu division.
“SP Prabeet Singh and SP Surendra Kumar have been entrusted with the security of the holy cave for a time bound manner as Singh will remain posted from June 20 to July 15, while Kumar from July 16 to August 11,” they added and said that the the security of the holy mace has been allotted to the SSP Sukhdev Raj.
Besides, sources disclosed that 45 DySsP from Jammu and Kashmir Armed Police have been deployed with IGP Kashmir Zone and in Jammu Division, SP Deepak Dhingra, SP Surendra Kumar, SP Naresh Singh, SP Jagbir Singh, DySP Jitendra Singh, DySP Kewal Kishore and DySP Maroof Ahmed have been attached with ADG Jammu Zone.
As many as 17 officers of DySP rank have been deployed in Jammu division for the security purpose, they said.
Meanwhile nine officers of DySP rank have been engaged with ADG traffic to facilitate smooth sailing of the vehicular movement and the trainees undergoing training at various police training centers are also being deployed for the Yatra.
Sources said that 4900 Armed Police personnel comprising 3400 for security in Kashmir including 200 women cops, 1500 jawans, of which 200 are women policemen will be deployed in the Jammu division.
