JMC soon to start digitization of residential, commercial property
Under the Jammu Smart City Project, the Jammu Municipal Corporation is all set to initiate digitization of residential and commercial properties falling in its jurisdiction.
Sources in the Jammu Municipal Corporation said that the process of digitization of residential and commercial properties will begin soon with a team conducting a door-to-door campaign to collect data.
“The Jammu Smart City Limited will be completing the project in collaboration with Jammu Municipal Corporation under which, properties in all 75 wards will be geo-tagged in GIS and each property will be allotted QR code based digital address, number plate with a unique property identification number,” sources added.
Sources asserted that besides provision of digital assets, house numbers, digitization of property records will lead to a transparent property record management system, adding, “door-to-door survey of properties will soon be started in all municipal wards of the Jammu city wherein team of officers will visit the premises for survey and data collection.”
The success of this exercise depends upon the cooperation of the residents, property owners and their respective municipal representatives, the corporate, they said.
“The Jammu Municipal Corporation and Jammu Smart City Limited have appealed to all the residents and property owners to cooperate wholeheartedly and share the necessary information with the authorities visiting every household,” official sources said adding that the officers will be issued identity cards by the Jammu Municipal Corporation and Jammu Smart City Limited.
“Residents, property owners should verify the authenticity of the team visiting them before sharing any information,” they said and added that like every house, a number will be issued for every shop, business establishment and it will be displayed outside the property in the form of a number plate with all details of house number, street number and locality.
Notably, in the year 2007-08, the General House of Jammu Municipal Corporation approved the project of house numbering in the city for which Rs.65 lakh was also earmarked for the project.
“The project could not be materialized previously while the Jammu Smart City Project with JMC has yet again initiated the process that will begin very soon,” they added.
Sources said that there were 15,51,768 houses in the year 2001 census in Jammu and Kashmir, which increased by 36.60 percent till the year 2011 and the number increased to 21,19,718. Whereas in the year 2011 there were 71 wards in Jammu city and there were 117449 houses and 576297 population but presently, there are 75 wards in the city and the number of houses are believed to be above two lakhs.
“In few days, teams will start reaching out to people for surveys and we have appealed for cooperation so that accurate data can be collected for further action,” said an official.
The exercise will smooth the delivery of documents, couriers, electricity, water, phone bills and the information of each household will also be available online, he maintained.
