Rajnath Singh to pay homage to martyrs’, honour their families at Jammu on July 24

To remember the sacrifices and pay homage to the martyrs’ and to honour their families as a respect, the Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will visit Jammu on July 24 to attend a function to be organized at Gulshan Ground.

The event is to be organized by the Jammu and Kashmir People’s Forum.

“Union Minister Rajnath Singh will visit here on July 24 to participate in an event to honour the families of martyrs to be organized by the Jammu and Kashmir People’s Forum,” sources said.

They added that the Forum is organising a felicitation ceremony at Gulshan Ground on July 24 to honour the families of the martyrs who laid down their lives for the country.

“Singh will pay homage to the martyrs who have laid down lives since 1947 till now for the nation and also honour their families during the function,” they added.

Sources further said that Singh will be flanked by the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh General Secretary Dattatreya Hosabole.

“The program will be organized at Gulshan Ground in Jammu on July 24 morning to remember the supreme sacrifices of martyrs of CRPF, BSF, ITBP, SSB, Army, Navy, Air Force and Police,” they said adding that their families will also be felicitated on the occasion.

“The program is to be organized as a part of ongoing celebrations across the country under ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ wherein not only the families of the martyrs but retired personnel from the Armed Forces, Police, Para-military Forces and other sister concern agencies will also be invited,” they said.

Singh earlier on June 16-17 during his two days visit to Jammu and Kashmir reviewed the security scenario along the Line of Control and the Line of Actual Control.

He also attended a function that marked the 200th Raj Tilak ceremony of Maharaja Gulab Singh in Jammu.

At Jammu in his last visit, Singh hinted at the start of the electoral process in Jammu and Kashmir by the end of this year.

“Recently the Delimitation Exercise in Jammu and Kashmir has been completed after which the assembly constituencies of Jammu and Kashmir increased to 90 including 43 seats from Jammu and 47 seats from Kashmir,” Singh had said adding that by the end of this year, it is expected that the election process will also be initiated in Jammu and Kashmir.

Recalling August 5, 2019, Rajnath Singh said that after the abrogation of article 370 Jammu and Kashmir has witnessed massive transformation.

“Every section of the society should come forward and pledge to fulfill the dream of Maharaja Gulab Singh he saw 200 years back of peaceful and developed Jammu and Kashmir, which is a true tribute to the Maharaja,” said the Union Minister.
