Police arrests 02 drug peddlers in Budgam; Contraband substances recovered

Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police have arrested 02 drug peddlers in Budgam and recovered contraband substances from their possession.

A Police party of Police Station Beerwah during naka checking near Tehsil Office Beerwah intercepted a vehicle (Tavera) bearing registration number JK14C-5584 with two persons on board. They have been identified as Mushtaq Ahmad Dar son of Habibullah Dar resident of Gundipora Beerwah and Kaleemullah Bhat son of Farooq Ahmad Bhat resident of Charangam. During search, 12 grams of Charas like substance and 6Kgs of semi-grinded Poppy Straw (fukki) were recovered from the said vehicle. Both the accused persons have been arrested have been shifted to police station where they remain in custody. Vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized.

Accordingly, case FIR No.95/2022 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Beerwah and investigation has been taken up.

Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.`
