J&K reports 505 new cases, active caseload rises to 2K
The Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday added 505 new COIVID cases, pushing the active caseload to 2077.
The death toll remained unchanged at 4761 with zero fatalities in the last 24 hours, a medical bulletin said.
“Of the new cases, 277 were reported from Jammu and 228 from Kashmir, “officials said. There are 51 confirmed cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) in the Union Territory, they said.
Providing district-wise breakup for positive cases, the Bulletin informs that Jammu reported 200 cases, Srinagar reported 144 cases, Udhampur reported 25 cases, Baramulla reported 38 cases, Kishtwar reported 11 cases, Kathua reported 14 cases, Rajouri, Doda and Bandipora reported 5 cases each, Samba and Budgam reported 6 cases each, Pulwama and Ganderbal reported 2cases each, Kupwara reported 23 cases, Anantnag and Reasi reported 3 cases each, Poonch reported 08 cases, Kulgam reported 4 cases, Shopian reported 1 case.
It is pertinent to mention here that the Union Territory administration has made wearing of face mask mandatory in several districts. Health experts said that infection seems to be increasing and cases must be even higher than being reported as people with mild symptoms are not even getting tested.
He said besides getting their due dose, people should adopt COVID-appropriate behaviour, including wearing of masks, to check the spread of disease.
