H&ME deptt for speedy implementation of ABDM

The Health and Medical Education Department (H&ME) has called for immediate implementation of the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) in the Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory.
Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana is a national public health insurance fund of the Government of India that aims to provide free access to health insurance coverage for low-income earners in the country.
Whereas, under the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission, every citizen can get a digital health ID and the health records would be digitally protected. The mission aims to develop the backbone necessary to support the integrated digital health infrastructure of the country.
“In order to ensure immediate rollout & seamless implementation of Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, the sanction is hereby accorded for”, reads the order issued by Manoj Kumar Diwedi, Principal Secretary to the Government Health & Medical Education Department.
As per the order, the Health and Medical Education Department has accorded the setting up of the office of Mission Director Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission J&K as a part of the Directorate of National Health Mission, J&K. Further, Mission Director, National Health Mission J&K is also nominated as Mission Director B. Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission J&K.
At the same time, Dr. Shafqat Khan, Officer on Special Duty (OSD) in Health & Medical Education Department is nominated as “Additional Mission Director, Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission J&K” in addition to his duties as Sectoral Expert and Overall Incharge for strategizing and on-boarding of Public Services through online platforms.
As per the order, the officer shall provide the necessary support for seamless implementation of the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission in UT of J&K in a time-bound manner and assist Mission Director, Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) J&K in the implementation of the Mission. He shall stand relieved from the role of Officer on Special Duty (OSD) in the Health & Medical Education Department with immediate effect.
The Mission Directorate, ABDM shall establish a State/UT team to enable effective implementation of the day-to-day operations of the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission as per the guidelines of the Mission.
The efficacy of the instant setup shall be reviewed on a quarterly basis by the administration department to further streamline the logistics to carry out operations of the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission to meet the laid down objective in a time-bound manner.
