One-third of UT’s population covered by Directorate of Ayush: NITI Aayog

Over one-third of the Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory population has been covered by the Directorate of Ayush, Jammu and Kashmir, NITI Aayog has said.

AYUSH is an acronym for Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, and Homeopathy. These are the six indigenous systems of medicine practiced in India.

Over one-third of the Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory population has been covered by the Directorate of Ayush, Jammu and Kashmir, NITI Aayog has said.

These are the six As per the report issued by NITI Aayog, “More than 1,134 inter-sectoral out-reach programs were conducted with other line departments, such as agriculture, education, ICDS, industry and commerce, police department, municipal councils and committees, Social Welfare, Jal-shakti, Border Security Force (BSF), CMOs Government medical colleges, and many other departments including NGOs in Jammu and Kashmir”.

The highlight of the inter-sectoral convergence is outreach programs in slums and programs for jail inmates. 2.89 lakh units of Ayush Kwath and 1.92 lakh Ayush-64 tablets were distributed through outreach programs.

In order to effectively implement the Ayush outreach program, block-level Ayush teams were constituted to liaise with Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs), line departments, and NGOs to maximize reach, it read.

Directorate of Ayush J&K used digital platforms for the training of the Ayush workers and for the field outreach bureau of Jammu and Kashmir; conducted 56 such sessions for creating mass awareness among healthcare workers, ASHAs, teachers, and social indigenous systems of medicine practiced in India.
