PM Modi to inaugurate 44th Chess Olympiad-2022 at JLN Indoor Stadium in Chennai
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the 44th Chess Olympiad at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium this evening. Curtains will rise for the grand occasion in which international chess masters and grand masters will take part. Tamil Nadu Governor R. N. Ravi, Chief Minister M. K. Stalin and several Union and State Ministers will grace the event.
Apart from the Chess Olympiad, Chennai is also catching up the chess fever at various levels. India’s first FIDE Coach and trainer Dr. Ebenezer Joseph inaugurated a Chess event at the Apollo Hospital where doctors played at the hospital. More than 8,000 tribal children also played chess at this juncture.

Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting Mr. Anurag Thakur said that it was a happy occasion to be in Chennai. He appreciated the officials of the Chennai Airport officials for doing a commendable job in putting forth an impeccable arrangement for the international sports players.
The Olympiad will continue till the 10th of August where the winners of the tournament will get a total prize of five lakh rupees. The State Government has made arrangements for the players and also the visitors at Mamallapuram. The Health Department officials are on a keen watch to observe the health parameters of the players.
