Commonwealth Games: India’s schedule on Day 7
On Day 7 of the Commonwealth Games 2022 in Birmingham, top Indian stars who will be in action today include Mridul Borgohain, Amit Panghal, Dipika Pallikal, Manika Batra, Hima Das, Manju Bala and Joshana Chinappa.
The first game of the day will be a Table Tennis match between India and Malaysia. Featuring Sanil Shetty and Reeth Tennison, it will be a mixed doubles round of 64 match which is slated to begin at 2 P.M. Indian Standard Time. Mixed doubles round of 32 will see Manika Batra and Sreeja Akula in separate encounters.
Sarita Romit Singh and Manju Bala will be participating in the Group ‘A’ qualification round of Hammer Throw.
Ace sprinter Hima Das will be in action in Women’s 200 m Round-1 Heat-2.
In Lawn Bowls, Mridul Borgohain is set to continue his campaign against Ross Davis of Jersey. Yesterday, Borgohain first beat Chris Locke of Falkland Islands 21-5 in his second round match. Later, he humbled Scotland’s Iain McLean 21-19. Another win will make the road to the quarterfinals smoother for him.
In Boxing, Amit Panghal will face Lennon Mulligan of Scotland in quarterfinals in the over 48 to 51 kilogram category.
In Squash, women’s doubles duo of Joshna Chinappa and Dipika Pallikal will be in action.
The Indian men’s hockey team will face Wales in a Group ‘B’ encounter.
In the medals tally, India is placed at 7th spot with 18 medals comprising five golds, six silvers and seven bronzes.
