J&K PSI recruitment scam Serving SSB officials on radar, arrests soon

Days after the Central Bureau of Investigation conducted searches in Jammu over alleged irregularities in Jammu and Kashmir Police Sub-Inspector recruitment some of the officials of Service Selection Board have come under the radar of the probing agency.

The CBI however, registered a formal case on the request of Jammu and Kashmir Government against 33 accused persons on the allegations of irregularities in written examination for the posts of Sub-Inspectors in the J&K Police conducted by J&K Services Selection Board (JKSSB).

Official sources said that besides involvement of former SSB officials, the names of some of the serving men have also surfaced in the alleged irregularities.
“Some of the officials allegedly found hand in glove with the former officers of SSB have also surfaced while the CBI is on job to collect strong evidence following which arrests are expected very soon,” sources revealed.

“The probing agency may soon seek summons from the court against these officials in couple of days and called them for questioning,” they said adding that some employees were allegedly found involved for issuing the contract to the dubious company from Bengaluru to print the examination papers and throwing norms to wind, he said company leaked the papers to some of the candidates.

“Very soon some people will be taken into custody in the recruitment scam,” sources added.
They said that the investigating agency has called 14 out of 33 accused in case to the office to record their statements including the former security personnel and his son.

So far, a case has been registered against then Medical Officer of BSF Frontier Headquarters, Paloura; Ex JKSSB member; then Under Secretary, then Section Officer (both of JKSSB); Ex Official of CRPF; ASI of J&K Police; owner of a coaching centre, Akhnoor and a Bengaluru based private company besides unknown persons.
The Jammu and Kashmir Government had constituted an inquiry committee to look into the matter as it was alleged that the accused persons entered into conspiracy amongst officials of JKSSB, private company, beneficiary candidates and others, and caused gross irregularities in conduct of written examination for the posts of Sub-Inspectors.
Searches were conducted on Friday at 30 locations including at Jammu, Srinagar and Bengaluru at the premises of the accused while the investigation is in progress.
