Sensex falls 204 points, Nifty declines 57 points to trade at 17,887

The Sensex and the Nifty today witnessed modest losses in the afternoon trade. Both stock indices slipped around 0.3 percent amid negative cues from global share markets.

The Sensex was trading below 60,100 level while the Nifty was trading near 17,900 points.

The Sensex fell 204 points, or 0.34 percent, to trade at 60,057. The Nifty also declined 57 points, or 0.32 percent, to trade at 17,887 when the reports last came in.

In the forex market, the rupee also weakened 23 paise to trade at 79 rupees and 67 pasie against the US dollar in the afternoon deals.
