Govt to reinitiate recruitment process of J&K Sub Inspector in Oct, says LG
Announcing the government will reinitiate process of J&K Sub Inspector exam in the month of October, the Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha said that deserving candidates need not to worry and they will qualify again.
“We cancelled the exams after receiving complaints and handed over the case to the CBI. Some facts were found in the complaints after the investigation,” Sinha said during an interview to international new channel.
“The deserving candidates need not to worry, they will qualify again. But gone are the days when people will be selected by running a racket,” he added.
The sub-inspector recruitment process was earlier scrapped by the Manoj Sinha-led administration after mass bungling was found in the written test conducted in April this year.
The case of mass bungling was later handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for in-depth investigation. Last month as part of the investigation CBI conducted raids at over two dozen locations in Jammu and Kashmir.
The recruitment process was conducted by the Jammu and Kashmir Service Selection Board.
Contesting the Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE) data ofranking Jammu and Kashmir in top three states across country in terms of unemployment, LG said that he is failed to understand how the figures fluctuate every month.
“Contesting the Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE) data is not my job I but the variation in number every month is worth considering,” he said.
He further said that the problem of unemployment is across the country, which further compounded by 2 years of COVID pandemic. “Simultaneously, we are moving towards new avenue of employment,” he added
“Acknowledging that the primary sources of employment in the UT are government jobs. But now, the J&K is expecting investment of 75 crores which will generate employment opportunities for 5-6 Lakh youth,” he said.
He also said that the Hurriyat chairman and chief cleric Mirwaiz Umar Farooq was neither under house arrest nor detained. However, the Hurriyat has contested the L-G’s claim.
“There was no Public safety Act [PSA] against him [the Mirwaiz] even in 2019. He is not detained. In the past, his father was assassinated unfortunately. We keep security around his house to protect him. He needs to decide what he wants to do. He is neither under house arrest nor detained,” Sinha said
A Hurriyat spokesman said, “The Hurriyat was amazed by the statement. The Mirwaiz is under house detention for the past three years since August 2019. Such blatant misrepresentation of facts and denial of his incarceration are unbelievable.”
Former Chief Minister and National Conference vice-president Omar Abdullah also took a jibe at the L-G’s statement on the Mirwaiz.
“The same way my colleagues were locked in their homes ‘for their own safety’ for months on 4th Aug 2019 & the same way we get trucks parked outside our gates every once in a while because ‘inputs’ suggest an attack on Gupkar road is imminent,” Abdullah said in a tweet.
